You have a lot to offer, are you showing the world yet?

You have natural talents and gifts, specific skills and behaviors that are all part of what will make you succeed as a leader. Have you figured out what those are?

Self-coaching questions for discovering your natural talents:

  • What do people always tell you about your work? Do they constantly applaud your ability to work under pressure or are they always praising your creativity? Your co-workers and others in your life have already figured it out for you. Start making a list of what you do best.

  • Then find out how you can incorporate more of these natural talents into your day-to-day. Can you join in on marketing meetings to share more of your ideas? Can you mentor younger employees and guide them in their journey?

  • How can your skills help you reach your goals? If you want to be promoted and you know the new job has you managing a large group of people, showcase your ability to do that in your current role by leading teams or asking for more responsibility on projects.

Often, we just keep doing what we are asked to do, or what is in our job description, but are we doing what we want to do? Maybe it just takes asking to start getting involved in different parts of your company. If you feel stuck in your current job role, there are likely options to help you expand.

Schedule a meeting with your manager or leaders and tell them in what other areas you think you would add value and that you are very willing to assist on projects related to these strengths. If you don’t say anything, they will never know. Be vocal.

Stay successful by doing what you do best and asking for support around the rest.
